The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 51 will host a one-day safe boating course, Boat America, on Feb. 28 in Riviera Beach. The Auxiliary, the uniformed volunteer component of the U.S. Coast Guard, supports recreational boating safety through education and outreach. Florida law requires anyone born after Jan. 1, 1988, to complete an approved boating safety course to operate a vessel in state waters, and this class fulfills that requirement. Participants will receive a Florida Boating Safety Education ID card upon completion. The course runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with registration beginning at 7:45 a.m. The cost is $25 (cash or check). Classes are held at Phil Foster Park’s U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary building. To register, call or text Auxiliary member “Captain Clark” at 561-635-1030 or email uscgauxiliaryflotilla1776@gmail.com.
