Yacht Fire Destroys Motor Yacht in Mexico

M/Y Dominic, a 27.3-meter vessel built by Maiora, caught fire on Friday evening in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. The yacht fire destroyed the vessel. 

A yacht fire destroyed M/Y Dominic on Friday, July 26. The vessel caught on fire around 8 p.m., according to local reports, with all three decks on board becoming engulfed in the flames. Multiple private vessels and a passing Ultramar ferry tried to help the crew put out the fire but were unsuccessful.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but all six tourists and crewmembers on board were unharmed and evacuated safely. In addition to the rescue efforts, there was no spill of pollutants into the water.

“Thanks to the quick intervention of the Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR), the Ultramar company, APIQROO, staff of the Isla Mujeres municipality and the solidarity of the citizens, all those involved were evacuated without suffering injuries,” read a statement from the State Coordination of Civil Protection for Quintana Roo.
