SEA Index introduces a new member, the Port of Saint-Tropez, which joins the network to help promote sustainable yachting. The Port of Saint-Tropez is joining the SEA Index as an Institutional member to help promote sustainable yachting throughout the Mediterranean and beyond. The collaboration was formalized on Oct. 3, 2024. As a SEA Index member, Port of Saint-Tropez will recognize SEA Index certification holders in the harbor and offer incentives to vising yachts and crew to identify and minimize CO2 emissions to “foster less impactful yachting practices.” “We are delighted to welcome the Port of Saint-Tropez into the SEA Index network and look forward to rolling out our flagship CO2 assessment tool at this iconic location. Already recognized as an excellent port for service and style, the integration of SEA Index will cement the Port of Saint-Tropez as a leader in sustainability too,” said Bernard d’Alessandri, Superyacht Eco Association vice president. SEA Index was launched in 2021 and offers independent, third-party verified CO2 certification for yachts larger than 25 meters, aiming to promote energy-efficient yachting as part of the “Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting” initiative led by the Yacht Club de Monaco. Yacht owners who receive a rating of three stars or more on the SEA Index rating scale get access to exclusive benefits. “The integration of the Port of Saint-Tropez into the SEA Index is an essential step in our approach towards sustainable yachting. We are proud to be able to actively encourage yacht owners and their crews to adopt more environmentally friendly practices. As the index expands, more ports, harbors, and marinas are uniting to promote responsible yachting. By providing yacht owners, naval architects, and shipbuilders with an independent and unbiased CO2 benchmark, certification verified by Lloyd’s Register, and methodology from RINA, the SEA Index is empowering a new generation of eco-conscious yacht owners to minimize CO2 emissions and futureproof the sector. “Joining the SEA Index certification highlights our collective and responsible commitment to providing an even better welcome for yachtsmen calling at our port, making it ever more attractive while promoting eco-responsible actions in favor of the environment.
