M/Y Loon is live streaming their Atlantic crossing on their YouTube channel. The timing is interesting, considering the two active hurricanes in the Atlantic and Hurricane Milton’s approach to Florida this week. Capt. Paul Clarke set off on October 5 from Gibraltar, Spain, to head to Fort Lauderdale with the aim of live streaming all 2,800 to 3,500 nautical miles of the trip, which is predicted to take around 16 or 17 days for the 221-foot motor yacht. The live stream is possible thanks to improved coverage available through Starlink’s high-performance marine satellite, allowing the vessel to continuously live stream and post daily updates. The crew plan to check in twice daily on the live stream at 09:00 and 18:00 CET. More than 43,000 people have tuned into the coverage in the few days since the yacht set out. If the hurricanes hit, the live stream will share the footage of navigating extreme mid-Atlantic conditions in a superyacht. Their previous crossings have witnessed the Loon crew rescuing sailors in distress, deep-sea fishing, and simply relaxing after a busy season.
