A sailboat carrying five people sank after a pod of orcas repeatedly rammed the vessel off the coast of Fonte da Telha beach, Portugal. According to the National Maritime Authority, the boat belonged to the Nautic Squad club. All five passengers were rescued safely and did not require medical attention. A nearby boat tried to tow the sailboat after the orca strike, but the attempt was unsuccessful, and the vessel eventually sank. A second vessel, located further north near Cascais, also encountered the same pod of orcas and had to be rescued, but did not sink. Four people were on this vessel and were rescued by a nearby boat. They also did not require medical attention. These orca encounters are part of an ongoing pattern being monitored by marine authorities. Watch the full video here.
