The Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF) announced the return of the 29th Annual Plywood Regatta, scheduled for April 25–26. The two-day boatbuilding and racing event will take place at Snyder Park and the FORT Pickleball. Students, educators, mentors, volunteers, and marine industry professionals will come together for a weekend focused on hands-on learning, teamwork, and careers on the water. Middle and high school students are set to divide into teams and design and build seaworthy boats in a single day using only plywood, zip ties, 5200 fast-cure caulk, and marine-grade paint. The following day, the boats are launched and raced in heats across multiple divisions, introducing young marine enthusiasts to boat building during the competition. The Plywood Regatta’s first day will include boatbuilding and decorating at Snyder Park in Fort Lauderdale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The racing heats and award ceremony will follow on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds from the event support MIASF’s marine education initiatives and scholarship fund, which awarded $15,000 in scholarships in 2025 to graduating high school seniors pursuing marine-related careers. MIASF is the largest marine trade organization in the Southeast United States.
