U.S. Coast Guard divers arrived in the Bahamas Tuesday evening to begin a new search for Lynette Hooker, an American woman who has been missing since April 4. Lynette, a 55-year-old mother, fell off an 8-foot dinghy while navigating choppy waters near the Abaco Islands, according to her husband Brian Hooker.
Brian was on board the dinghy at the time, stating that his wife fell at night and was swept away. Lynette’s body has not been recovered since. Brian was initially arrested by the Royal Bahamas Police Force on April 8 but was released from custody five days later. He has since returned to the United States and said he did not harm his wife.
The renewed search comes after GPS data derived from one of Brian’s electronic devices showed a track of the device’s movements that does not align with what he told investigators, according to CBS News. A crew of divers will begin to search the new area in the Sea of Abaco.
