KVH improves VoIP calls

Mar 1, 2015 by Guest Writer

Rhode Island-based KVH Industries has launched a dedicated voice configuration for its mini-VSAT Broadband global maritime satellite network. Its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service is now delivered on a prioritized and protected data stream, separate from the network’s

broadband data traffic to maintain clear sound quality.

Maritime operators rely on broadband connectivity for everything from accessing e-mail to using web-based applications for better voyage planning, fuel optimization, and remote systems monitoring. At the same time, vessels experience demand for VoIP services by crew and officers.
